Founder and owner of Lightcore Tech, Brad Barr has extensive experience working in optical fibre technology. After an expansive career in the Royal Australian Navy, Brad is taking his skills , values and technical expertise developed and using them to fill a much needed gap in the industry.
Moving on after a naval career has been made easier for Brad, thanks to a $5 million New Enterprise Investment Fund (NEIF) established by RMIT University. His optical fibre business, Lightcore Tech, was one of six to receive the capital required to get their company off the ground in 2015 through an interest-free loan from the RMIT initiative.
Barr came to NEIF after participating in The Prince's Lead Your Own Business Program, run by The Prince's Charities Australia. “I'm transitioning from the navy and the support and assistance I’ve received from RMIT and the mentors in getting my pitch ready has been awesome,” he said.
